Dr. Richard Ford is a Professor of Internal Medicine in the Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. Following graduation from The Ohio State University, Dr. Ford practiced small animal and equine medicine. Subsequently, he completed an internal medicine residency at Michigan State University then accepted a position on the faculty at Purdue University, School of Veterinary Medicine. In 1982, Dr. Ford accepted a position at North Carolina State University.  Dr. Ford's clinical interests are in the field of companion animal infectious diseases, vaccines, and vaccination. He is the author/editor of 3 books, including the Handbook of Veterinary Procedures and Emergency Treatment, now in its 7th Edition. He is currently a member of the Feline Vaccination Advisory Panel and a co-author of the Feline Vaccination Guidelines (US).  Dr. Ford is a Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserve and is assigned to the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General.
